SPAR NI: Community Cashback

Applicants for grants are open to UK residents (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland mainland only) aged 16 or over, excluding employees, and their immediate families, of SPAR or any SPAR holding companies, subsidiaries or associated companies. There are grants available, covering all geographical regions across the UK and amounts up to £10,000 are available, with a total pool of grants valued at £100,000. Successful applicants will be visited and awarded their grant from their local SPAR representative. The breakdown for Northern Ireland will be: 1 x £10,000, 1 x £5,000, 5 x £1,000. 2025 Deadline: 23:59, Wednesday 4th June 2025.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council: 80th Anniversary of VJ Day

Newry Mourne and Down District Council invites applications for financial assistance towards the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day. Grants are between £500 minimum and £1,500 maximum. Indicative budget for the theme is £9,365. All project delivery for VJ Day initiatives must be undertaken between 11 August 2025 and 3 September 2025. An online information workshop will take place; 1pm Thursday 8th May 2025. Deadline: 12noon, Monday 19th May 2025.

Belfast City Council: Small Grants – Support for Sport Large Development Grants

The Belfast City Council Support for Sport Large Development Grants are designed for Belfast based sports clubs who wish to develop by undertaking a new project. Maximum award: £5,000 each financial year, organisations may only submit one application. This scheme is aimed at encouraging the development of sports within the Belfast area, either through the growth of existing clubs, or through projects aimed at encouraging new people to take up sporting activity. Deadline: Midday, Friday 4th July 2025.

Derry City & Strabane District Council: Community Support Fund for Rural DEAs

The fund is open to constituted ‘Not for Profit’ organisations that are open, accountable and representative of the geographical area which they service and promote and support community development. The fund is here to help your good ideas take root and grow. The Community Support Fund is for grants up to a maximum of £4,000 and will cover both project costs and/or core costs (excluding salaries/wages). Deadline: 3pm, Friday 9th May 2025.

Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon (ABC) Borough Council: Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) Grant 2025/2026

The Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Strategic Framework was launched by the Executive in September 2024. It intends to bring together a whole of society and whole of government response to address this issue which impacts the lives of far too many women and girls across society. The main focus of this strategy is on prevention. This recognises that tackling the underlying causes of violence, abuse and harm towards women and girls and stopping it before it starts is vital. There are 3 tiers of funding; Tier 1: £1,000 – £5,000, Tier 2 – £5,001 – £15,000, Tier 3: £15,001 -£25,000. Deadline: 12 noon, 23rd May 2025.

A B Charitable Trust (ABCT): Open Grants Programme

The A B Charitable Trust (ABCT) is an independent, UK based grant-making organisation which supports charities that promote human dignity and defends the human rights of the most marginalised and excluded people. Open programme grants are usually between £10,000 to £30,000 per year and are awarded from one to three years. Priority areas include; The Human Rights Framework, Access to Justice, The Criminal Legal System and Penal Reform and Migrants and Refugees. Next Deadline: 25th July 2025.

The Public Health Agency (PHA): Making Life Better through Short-term Funding

Community and voluntary groups are being encouraged to apply for a short-term funding programme that focuses on improving mental health and emotional wellbeing. Funding of up to £1000 for non-constituted groups and between £1001 to a maximum of £5,000 for constituted groups. Projects will promote positive mental health, address health determinants, reduce health inequalities, enhance community capacity to prevent suicide, build resilient communities, and encourage innovative mental health interventions. Application Deadline: 3pm, 16th May 2025.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council: Good Relations Grant

The Good Relations Fund offers financial support of up to £2,000 to community and voluntary sector organisations. The primary objective of the fund is to support initiatives that promote good relations, foster mutual understanding, and enhance community cohesion. Deadline: Midday, 8th May 2025.

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council: Strategic Capital Projects Grants

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council wishes to invite applications from community/voluntary sector organisations under the Strategic Capital Projects Grant Programme for 2025/2026. The grant scheme has a budget of £1m for 2025/2026. The funding will provide a mechanism for investing in rural/urban areas and is available to local community/voluntary organisations with a project plan to enhance existing facilities or to meet an unmet local need. Deadline: 5pm, 9th May 2025.

B & Q Foundation

The B & Q Foundation provides grants for a wide range of charities who are looking for funding to improve or develop spaces that benefit their local communities. They help registered charities who are supporting people in need in the UK – those experiencing homelessness, in financial hardship, impacted by health, disability, or other disadvantage or distress. The Foundation awards grants of up to £10,000 for building or indoor projects, and up to £5,000 for garden projects. Deadline: 6pm, 9th May 2025.

Ards & North Down Borough Council: Community Development Grants

Constituted voluntary and community groups are invited to apply for Community Development grants within the Council area. The scheme will support the following types of community development activity subject to the availability of funding:

  • Up to £2,000 – Running Costs: for local community bases/resource centres and groups which aim to improve the quality of life in our communities.
  • Up to £1,000 – Project Costs: to deliver a local project e.g. a defined piece of work, training or a project which is time bound.

Deadline: Midday: 9th May 2025.

The Screwfix Foundation

The Screwfix Foundation are a grant giving charity with a clear purpose to support projects that improve, repair and maintain homes and community facilities used by those in need throughout the UK. The Screwfix Foundation currently offers local registered charities and not for profit organisations funding up to the region of £5,000. Prioritising those that will create a longer-term difference and where their donation will make an impact and fund the total cost (or the majority) of a project. Next Deadline: 10th May 2025.

Community Foundation NI: Thriving Futures Fund

The fund aims to support; refugees and people seeking asylum, people experiencing domestic abuse, people leaving the criminal justice system. Applications are welcome from organisations providing support in one or more of these three areas. Grants will be available for up to three years and will range from £30,000 to £50,000 per annum. The maximum available for a three-year grant will be £150,000. Deadline: 1pm, 12th May 2025.

An online training session specifically designed for staff or volunteers who work in the administration of finance within a charity. This session will give participants an opportunity to delve a bit deeper into the more technical aspects of charity finance.

Online information session about the new Code of Fundraising Practice delivered by The Fundraising Regulator (FR). The Fundraising Regulator will soon publish its new Code of Fundraising Practice.  The new code, which has been shaped by extensive public consultation, represents a clearer, more flexible, and modern approach to fundraising regulation. This session will provide an opportunity for charities, fundraisers, volunteers and Trustees to find out more about the new code and the support available ahead of its implementation later this year.
