The event will be addressed by Health Minister, Mike Nesbitt, as well as the NI Mental Health Champion, Professor Siobhan O’Neill, and a range of experts in their various fields. Among the key topics discussed will be HSENI’s main workplace health priorities as set out in their 2023-2028 Corporate Plan, Occupational lung diseases, Occupational cancers, Work-related mental wellbeing, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Speaking about the conference, HSENI Chief Executive, Robert Kidd, said “Health and Safety is about more than injuries and accidents in the workplace. It is about ensuring the long-term health of all staff is considered, and the Workplace Health Conference will look at some of the major issues that can have a devastating impact on staff.

“Every worker has the right to work in a safe and healthy environment and to go home unharmed. We encourage everyone with an interest in how the workplace can improve health to come along to the conference and find out more.”

The conference will also mark the launch of a year-long HSENI occupational health campaign.

Topics for discussion include Occupational Asthma, Cancer Risks and the Workplace, Occupational Disease Trends Within the UK and Ireland, and a range of mental health and well-being issues in the workplace.

The conference has been developed for professionals working in both the public and private sectors, those who work in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, duty-holders, managers, health and safety officers, trade unions and stakeholders, anyone with an interest in improving health in the workplace.
