Business Advisor (Marketing Specialist) – Maternity Cover (Temporary Contract)

Location: Down Business Centre, 46 Belfast Road, Downpatrick
Contract: Temporary (Maternity Cover)
Hours: 28 hours per week (4 days)
Salary: £17.30 per hour

Start Date: 9th July 2025

Closing Date: 18th April 2025

Down Business Centre a local enterprise agency within the Newry, Mourne and Down district area supporting businesses in the East Down region. We provide expert advice, training, and facilities to help businesses start, grow and succeed.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Business Advisor with a specialism in marketing to join our team on a temporary contract basis to cover maternity leave. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional who can provide strategic guidance to local businesses, in the areas of business planning, business legalities, finance, and in depth advice on marketing strategies, planning and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert business support and advice to entrepreneurs and small businesses.
  • Deliver one-to-one mentoring on business planning, business start up, business growth and marketing.
  • Assist businesses in developing marketing strategies, including digital marketing, branding, and customer engagement.
  • Support clients with market research, social media strategy, and promotional planning.
  • Work closely with DBC to deliver additional business support initiatives.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in business, marketing, or a related field.
  • At least three years’ experience in a business advisory, marketing, or business development role.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing, social media, and branding strategies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working with SMEs or start-ups.
  • Knowledge of funding and support available to businesses in Northern Ireland.
  • Experience delivering business workshops or training.
  • Coaching or mentoring Certification
