KAREN’S MARATHON FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE

Good luck to our Property Manager Karen Branagan who’s planning to do not one, not two but three marathons this month – all for a very good cause

Karen is raising money for a charity close to her heart – the Pseudo Obstruction Research Trust www.port-charity.org.uk – and planning to do it by walking the distance of three marathons (that’s 78.6miles) during January.  She’s already got the first one under her belt and it looks like there’s no stopping her.

Karen’s 9yr old great-nephew Charlie suffers from the serious bowel condition Pseudo Obstruction.  It was when she heard that Charlie’s father Kilian was planning to run the London Marathon later in the year to raise money for the PORT charity that Karen decided she’d walk the distance of one marathon and contribute any sponsorship money she got to Killian’s fundraising pot.

“I used to walk a lot but had got out of the way of it so when I set myself the challenge of walking the distance of one marathon I thought it was all I would manage.   However when I got my walking shoes on and got started I enjoyed the challenge very much and the first 26.2miles were achieved within a week.  I’m now into my second marathon distance and aim to complete the third before 31 January

All the money raised by Karen’s  marathon walking feat will go directly to fund research into the Pseudo Obstruction.
