TENANTS DEMONSTRATING THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS

We are very proud of the work that our community sector tenants have been delivering against the background of the Covid-19 crisis and particularly in the run up to Christmas.

Hat’s off to Good Morning Down who have been out and about visiting 190 of their clients – who they always refer to as friends – to deliver Activity Packs and, in doing so, bring an early gift of Christmas cheer.   The Activity Packs have been designed to encourage better engagement and will give Good Morning Down telephone carers a subject to discuss during with the friends during their calls.

Good Morning Down, offer a free telephone care and befriending service for adults of any age who feel vulnerable or at risk and who live in the Down area of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council.

Down Community Transport have also been out and about, this time delivering Rainbow Boxes to the staff in Care Homes across Down, North Down and Ards.  The Rainbow Boxes are a thank you from both the Community and the wider Health Family for the commitment and hard work of Care Home staff during the pandemic.

Throughout the Covid-19 crisis Down, Community Transport has been delivering food boxes, prescriptions and other items to vulnerable and isolated people as well as transporting people to essential medical appointments.   This month they’ve also been supporting Home Start Downpatrick, another one of our community sector tenants, by collecting toys for disadvantaged families from the Cash for Kids Mission HQ.
